Statement On Andrew Roraback’s Comments About Abortion

May 2, 2012

NEW HAVEN — Christian Miron, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut, issued the following statement regarding state Sen. and congressional candidate Andrew Roraback’s response to a question about his stance on abortion at a Republican debate in Torrington on Monday, April 30th.

"Senator Roraback’s choice of words does not square with his voting record or the way he’s described his position in the past,” Miron said. "I don’t know if his statement is intended to score points with a very narrow and extreme segment of voters, but we believe Connecticut women and men deserve an explanation so they may draw their own conclusions as to his position on a woman’s right to choose.

"We would certainly value a conversation with him about the importance of communicating pro-choice values in a way that’s consistent with the position he’s supported as a legislator.”

NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut is the leading grassroots pro‑choice advocacy organization in Connecticut. NARAL Pro‑Choice Connecticut works to protect every woman’s right to access the full range of reproductive health options, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion.
